Tulasi Vivaha marks the ceremonial marriage of the Tulasi plant (an expansion of Srimati Radharani) to the Shaligram shila (a form of Lord Vishnu). This festival begins the wedding season in India and is considered highly auspicious. Tulasi Devi is supremely dear to Lord Krishna.

Tulasi is the most sacred plant in Vedic tradition. She is worshipped daily in Vaishnava homes and temples. Her marriage to Lord Vishnu/Shaligram represents the eternal union of the devotee with the Lord.
