Historical Background
Gita Jayanti marks the day when Lord Krishna spoke the Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra over 5,000 years ago. This sacred dialogue, recorded in the Bhishma Parva of the Mahabharata, contains the essence of all Vedic wisdom. Srila Prabhupada translated and commented on the Gita as "Bhagavad-Gita As It Is," which has been distributed in millions worldwide.
