Historical Background
Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura (1838-1914) was a great scholar, magistrate, and the pioneer of the Gaudiya Vaishnava revival in the 19th century. He rediscovered the birthplace of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Mayapur, wrote extensively on Vaishnava philosophy, and predicted the coming of a "broad-minded preacher" who would spread Krishna consciousness worldwide — Srila Prabhupada.
Spiritual Significance
Bhaktivinoda Thakura revived the teachings of Lord Chaitanya and the Six Goswamis at a time when they were almost lost. His books and compositions continue to inspire millions.
