Music Chanting Interview

An interview with the members of the Madhavas rock band on how they transitioned from engineering college rockers to spreading the holy name through music.

College Rock Band to Devotional Kirtan

The members of Madhavas formed a rock band in engineering college. Bass guitarist Namrata Kaur (Naam Bhakti Devi Dasi) visited the Chandigarh ISKCON temple and developed faith in Srila Prabhupada's teachings. Gradually, she introduced other members to the movement.

Band leader Nirdosh Sobti (Nav Kishore Nimai Das) was the toughest to convince, but once he joined, he contributed immensely as a talented lead guitarist and composer.

Band Achievements and Talents in Krishna's Service

Engaging their talents in Krishna's service, the band achieved great success:
• Placed 3rd in India's Got Talent Season 3.
• Won the best composition award from Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
• Nirdosh won Best Guitarist on MTV Rock in 2010.

Srila Prabhupada stated: "Anyone's special talent should be engaged in the service of the Lord, and thereby becomes successful in his life."

Challenges and Future Plans

Madhavas operate their devotional kirtan as a non-profit venture, supported by donations. They regularly release videos on their YouTube channel to reach youth. They seek to use their new age music to connect youngsters to devotion.
